Operators have been selected by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) to run the first phase of new Charter Schools which will offer American-based curriculums to kindergarten and elementary levels pupils.
Following a tender bidding and evaluation process, ADEK said it has chosen Aldar Education, Bloom Education and Taaleem.
ADEK introduced the Charter Schools project earlier this year, aiming to provide a third education model in Abu Dhabi, through the exchange of expertise between the public and private sectors, state news agency WAM reported.
In 2018, ADEK inaugurated Al Rayana School in Al Falah area as a pilot for the Charter Schools project, and at the beginning of the next academic year 2019-2020, the project will expand to 12 Charter Schools, nine of which are based in Abu Dhabi city and three in Al Ain city.
Aldar Education has a network of schools in the UAE while Bloom Education has ties with international partners, such as Brighton College from the UK, Dwight School from New York and MindChamps Nurseries from Singapore and Taaleem has a portfolio of 10 international schools and pre-schools.

The first phase of the Charter Schools project is set to provide 15,000 spaces for pupils.
Students will be exposed to creative thinking, leadership and innovation that will eventually prepare them to be confident global citizens and upskill them to address future challenges and job opportunities.
