The UAE is set to see more rain this week, even as parts of the country record temperatures of more than 50 degrees.
The highest temperature of the year, so far, was recorded at Sweihan in Abu Dhabi on Monday, July 8. At 12.45pm (UAE time) temperatures were recorded at 50.7 degrees.
High temperatures were recorded in various locations, with the top five hottest areas recorded at weather stations on Friday, June 21 were:
- Sweihan: 50.7 degrees at 12.45pm
- Um Azimul: 50.5 degrees at 2pm
- Rowdah: 50.1 degrees at 2pm
- Raknah: 49.8 degrees at 2.15pm
- UAE University: 49.8 degrees at 3.15pm

Meanwhile, forecasters are looking ahead to more rainfall in parts of the country this week.
The NCM has said there could be rain in parts of the UAE as well as fog and blowing gusts of dust as the week progresses.
- Tuesday, July 9: Fair to partly cloudy at times. Low clouds appear over the East Coast. With a probability of some convective cloud formation Eastward and Southward might be associated with rainfall by afternoon. Light to moderate Southeasterly to Northeasterly winds, freshening at times causing blowing dust and sand, with a speed of 10–25kmph reaching 40kmph. The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and rough at times by morning becoming moderate to slight in Oman Sea.
- Wednesday, July 10: Fair to partly cloudy. Low clouds appear over the East Coast, might be convective by afternoon. Humid by night and Thursday morning with a probability of mist formation far West. Light to moderate Southeasterly to Northeasterly winds, freshening at times causing blowing dust, with a speed of 10–25kmph reaching 40kmph. The sea will be moderate to slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
- Thursday, July 11: Fair to partly cloudy. Low clouds appear over the East Coast, With a probability of some convective cloud formation might be associated with rainfall Eastward by afternoon. With a decrease in temperatures over Western coastal areas. Humid by night and Friday morning with a probability of fog or mist formation over some coastal areas. Light to moderate Southeasterly becoming Northwesterly winds, freshening at times, with a speed of 10–20kmph reaching 35kmph. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
- Friday, July 12: Fair to partly cloudy. Low clouds appear over the East Coast. With a probability of some convective cloud formation over the mountains by afternoon. Light to moderate Southeasterly becoming Northwesterly winds, freshening at times, with a speed of 10–20 kmph reaching 35kmph. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
