Abu Dhabi Police have taken precautionary measures to ensure road safety as heavy fog engulfs various parts of Al Ain road and the area surrounding Sweihan, near Al Ain.
With visibility severely affected, speed limits have been activated to reduce the risk of accidents and promote road safety.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued red and yellow alerts for large portions of Abu Dhabi and Dubai due to the dense fog.
Areas affected include Dubai Industrial City, near the Abu Dhabi border, and Al Maktoum International Airport.
However, as of Thursday morning, no reports of flight delays at the airport have been received.
The weather bureau predicts that the fog will clear by 9 AM. Nonetheless, the public is urged to exercise caution during outdoor activities, especially in areas under the yellow alert.
The orange alert signifies the possibility of hazardous weather conditions, while the red alert serves as a warning for people to remain highly vigilant as exceptional severity weather events are expected.

The weather forecast for Thursday indicates fair to partly cloudy conditions in general, with a humid night ahead, leading to a possibility of fog or mist formation in some coastal and internal areas.
The highest temperatures on Thursday are expected to range between 43°C and 48°C in internal areas.
Looking ahead to Friday, similar weather conditions are expected, with a fair to partly cloudy day.
The night will remain humid, with a chance of fog or mist formation in certain western coastal and internal areas.
On Saturday, the weather will remain fair to partly cloudy. The night is expected to be humid, leading to fog or mist formation in some western areas.
The region has experienced scorching temperatures this July, with mercury crossing the searing 50°C threshold for the first time, specifically hitting 50.1°C in Bada Dafas in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region at 2.30 PM.
