Eid

The UAE has announced Covid-related measures for Eid Al Adha prayers in mosques across the country.

National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) said worshippers must wear face masks at all times, practice physical distancing especially among the elderly, and use their own mats.

They are also required to undergo PCR testing no longer than 72 hours before Eid, NCEMA spokersperson Taher Al Ameri, said, as reported by WAM.

There will be police patrols monitoring the entrances and exits of mosques, he said, adding gatherings and handshaking before and after prayers will not be allowed.

“We have noticed the recent negligence by several people with regards to adhering to relevant preventive measures in public areas,” he said, urging everyone to adhere to the national measures to protect the health and safety of the community,” Al Ameri said at a press briefing.

The official also reiterated the rules for Hajj pilgrims, including the Al Hosn Green Pass system.

Just recently, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), has launched an online Hajj permit service to facilitate procedures for the annual pilgrimage.

The online service, available on Al Hosn App to save pilgrims’ time and efforts, is launched in cooperation with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE), WAM reported.

Al-Hosn System said an electronic Hajj permit was mandatory for any individual leaving the country for Hajj, even if the person has received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and a booster shot.
