As the new year begins, UAE residents can look forward to 13 days of public holidays in 2023.
Starting in April, employees can look forward to a four day weekend starting Thursday, April 20 until Sunday, April 23 for Eid Al Fitr.
Eid Al Fitr also marks the first day after the 30-day fasting and prayer during Ramadan.

The next public holiday will fall on Tuesday, June 27 for Arafat Day followed by another three days off at the end of the month for Eid Al Adha on June 28, 29 and 30.
Dates for both Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha are subject to changes, and will follow relevant moon sightings.
July 19 will be a public holiday on account of the Islamic New Year.
The Islamic New Year will bring in a public holiday on July 21, and will fall on the first day of the month Muharram – the first of the Islamic lunar calendar.
Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday in 2023, will be on September 29, marking another public holiday.
Public holidays in 2023, will end in December with the UAE Commemoration Day, National Day celebrations falling on December 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
According to a post shared by the government in November, the following is the full list of holidays for next year:
- Gregorian New Year: January 1
- Eid Al Fitr: Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3
- Arafat Day: Dhul Hijjah 9
- Eid Al Adha: Dhul Hijjah 10-12
- Hijri New Year: July 21
- Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday: September 29
- National Day: December 2-3
