The UAE’s Tawazun Council ended Dubai Airshow with more than AED23bn ($6.3bn) in spending on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

On the fifth and final day of the Dubai Airshow 2023 it signed 10 deals, worth AED1.415bn with local and international companies.

The latest in the total of 54 deals were announced by Tawazun Council’s official Spokesmen Zayed Saeed Al Meraikhi and Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, Chief Corporate Communication Officer at Tawazun Council.

Zayed Saeed Al Meraikhi said the number of contracts signed by Tawazun Council with local companies on behalf of the Ministry of Defence on the fifth day of Dubai Airshow 2023 reached four contracts, worth AED392m.

They included:

  • A contract worth AED178m awarded to Lahab Defence Systems to procure Bombs Body
  • A contract worth AED82m signed with ADASI to provide upgrade services on Al Saber UAV’s
  • A contract worth AED93.9m with GAL to provide technical support on VIP Aircrafts
  • A contract with Yahsat to provide technical support at a value of AED38m

The international contracts announced on the final day of Dubai Airshow by Al Meraikhi, included six contracts at a total value of AED1.023bn.

The first contract was signed with the Swedish company SAAB to procure radars, at a total value AED145m.

An AED262m contract was awarded to the French company Thales to procure radars.

A contract was signed with the Italian company ELETTRONICA to procure ammunition for aircraft for AED240m.

Two contracts were signed with the Italian company LEONARDO. The first one was for the purchase of VIP helicopters for AED259.5m and the second to provide technical support on radars worth AED70m.

A contract was signed with the American company L3Harris to procure microwave stations for AED46.7m.

Al Meraikhi said: “Concluding the 18th Dubai Airshow 2023, we at Tawazun Council, take pride in the unwavering trust bestowed upon us by our visionary leadership to manage the contractual, legal, and financial aspects of procurement for the Ministry of Defence, Abu Dhabi police and security agencies.

“”We seize this opportunity to applaud the tremendous success achieved by this year’s Dubai Airshow. We are confident that future editions will witness even greater advancements and growth in all aspects, thanks to the visionary leadership and the comprehensive development journey towards a prosperous future”.
