The UAE’s Tawazun Council signed 16 deals, worth AED4.87bn ($1.3bn), with local and international companies on behalf of the Ministry of Defence on the fourth day of the Dubai Airshow 2023.
This brings the total value of the deals Tawazun Council signed on behalf of the Ministry of Defence so far to AED21.6bn ($5.9bn) for 44 deals.
The first day saw announcement of contracts worth AED4.7bn ($1.3bn) and the second day AED6.9bn ($1.9bn).
UAE military spending at Dubai Airshow 2023
The total value of contracts announced on third day stood at AED5.1bn ($1.4bn).
The announcement was made during a press conference held by Tawazun Council’s official Spokesmen Zayed Saeed Al Meraikhi and Majed Ahmed Al Jaberi.
Zayed Saeed Al Meraikhi said that the number of contracts signed by Tawazun Council on behalf of the Ministry of Defence with local companies reached nine contracts, totalling AED3.8bn ($1bn) on the fourth day of Dubai Airshow 2023.
A contract worth AED1.3bn ($354m) was awarded to International Golden Group to procure an Air Defence System in the UAE.
A contract worth AED105m ($28.6m) was signed with Abu Dhabi Airports to provide services at Al Ain International Airport.
Other announced deals with local companies included a contract with AL Sahraa Freight Transport and Logistics company worth AED8m to procure spare parts, repair and maintenance for airports ground systems and equipment, and a contract with AAL Group to provide maintenance services for helicopters at a value of AED42m.
Three contracts were signed with GAL, the first one is to provide maintenance services for helicopters for AED266m, and the second to provide specialists to support aviation systems for AED96.8m, while the third one was to procure spare parts for aircraft for AED1.6b ($456.6m).
An AED178m contract signed with Barij Munitions an Edge company, to procure ammunition.
The last deal was with ADASI, an Edge company at a value of AED239m to procure helicopters.
The international contracts announced today by Majed Al Jaberi included seven contracts at a total value of AED1.07bn.
The first contract was signed with the American company Lockheed Martin Global to procure spare parts for communication systems, at a total value AED367m.
An AED7.3m contract awarded to the American company Environmental Tectonics Corporation to procure spare parts and materials for aviation medical devices.
A contract signed with the Swedish company SAAB to provide aircraft maintenance services for AED185m.
Two contracts were signed with the French company Thales, the first one is to develop the communication system for AED318m and the second for modernisation and development of sonar systems worth AED66m.
A contract with the Italian company Agustawestland Aviation Services to provide spare parts and repair aircrafts for AED50m.
The last contact for the UAE was with the French company Dassault Aviation for AED78.6m.
