UAE leaders announce release of more than 2,980 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha

Leaders of the UAE have ordered the release of more than 2,984 prisoners from correctional facilities in the country.

Fines for prisoners will also be covered and the release is part of a tradition in the UAE ahead of occasions such as Eid Al Adha

Of the Emirates, Abu Dhabi will release the most prisoners, with more than 1,130 being released, and Dubai will set free 686 inmates.

UAE releases prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today ordered the release of 1,138 inmates from correctional institutions on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

Sheikh Mohamed also pledged to cover all fines imposed on the inmates, who had been sentenced for a variety of offences.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed regularly orders pardons for prisoners on occasions such as Eid Al-Adha, with the aim of providing the released inmates with an opportunity to start a new life and contribute once again to their families and communities.

In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister, ordered the release of 686 prisoners of different nationalities from Dubai’s correctional and punitive establishments, ahead of Eid Al Adha.

Attorney General of Dubai Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan said that Sheikh Mohammed’s order to pardon the prisoners reflects his keenness to bring happiness to their families and give them an opportunity to start a new life and reintegrate themselves into society.

Al Humaidan further said Dubai Public Prosecution, in collaboration with Dubai Police, has commenced the legal procedures to implement Sheikh Mohammed’s order.

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has ordered the release of 481 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha.

The prisoners’ release comes as part of Shaikh Saud’s keenness to give pardoned inmates an opportunity to start a new life and bring about stability to their families.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, directed to proceed with the necessary legal procedures to implement Sheikh Saud’s decision.

The Attorney-General of Ras Al Khaimah, Hasan Saeed Mehaimed, said that this noble gesture of Sheikh Saud reflects his keenness to give the inmates the opportunity to reintegrate into society and bring happiness to their families and loved ones.

Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the release of 352 prisoners from Punitive and Correctional Institution in Sharjah, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, expressed his appreciation for the Ruler’s generous gesture, which reflects his keenness to maintain family cohesion and bring joy to families.

Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has ordered the release of 233 prisoners who have demonstrated good conduct during their incarceration in Ajman’s correctional and punitive facilities, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

The move by the Ruler of Ajman is aimed at providing prisoners with a chance to begin a new life and ease the difficulties faced by their families.

Major General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, thanked the Ajman Ruler for this noble gesture, which is aimed at bringing happiness to people and ensuring social cohesion, adding that the procedures for the prisoners’ release will be initiated immediately.

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has ordered the release of 94 prisoners from punitive and correctional institutions in Fujairah, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

The inmates of various nationalities were selected based on good conduct and behaviour.

The gesture is part of Sheikh Hamad’s desire to give prisoners an opportunity to start a new life and bring joy to their families.

Major-General Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanim Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of the Fujairah Police, thanked Sheikh Hamad for this gesture, hoping that it will enable the released prisoners to start new lives, contribute to their community, and show good behaviour.

Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, has ordered the release of a number of prisoners from the punitive and corrective institutions in the Emirate on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Sheikh Saud expressed his sincere wishes to see the released prisoners take the opportunity to become productive members of society.

This noble gesture by Sheikh Saud demonstrates his commitment to giving pardoned inmates a chance to start a new life and bring joy to their families.
