UAE workplaces and schools have been told to work and study from home again on Tuesday, February 13 amid ongoing concerns over weather and safety.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai issued instructions for government entities to have a remote-working day.
A statement on social media said: “Under @HamdanMohammed’s directives, Tuesday, February 13, 2024 will be a remote working day for employees of all Dubai government entities, due to weather conditions.

“This applies to all government employees in #Dubai, except for roles that need on-site presence at the workplace”.
Private sector firms in the UAE have also been instructed to provide flexible working patterns on Tuesday, February 13.
A message on the official MOHRE X account said: “The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) calls on private sector companies across the UAE to apply flexible working patterns during unstable weather conditions.
“Necessary measures need to be taken by companies to ensure outdoor work, if necessary to resume, complies with the occupational health and safety requirements,” the Ministry said in a statement.
“Companies also need to ensure the health and safety of workers commuting to and from outdoor work locations.”
Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has asked schools to provide distance learning for pupils on Tuesday, February 13.
Due to “prevailing weather conditions” it asked Dubai private schools, nurseries and universities to ble flexible and continue providing the option of distance learning.
Earlier the United Arab Emirates Media Office announced government schools would operate remote learning classes.
It said: “Emirates Education Foundation: Distance learning will continue in all government schools tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13, taking into account the weather condition the country is going through, and to preserve the safety of students and faculty.
Meanwhile, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued weather alerts, warning of continued rain until Tuesday, February 13.
