The UAE has called on private sector companies and schools to offer flexible working conditions on Friday, October 27 amid safety concerns brought on by weather conditions across the country.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) said measures must be taken to ensure outdoor work complies with health and safety requirements.
Meanwhile, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority called on schools and private education institutions to introduce flexibility for parents and staff and introduce remote learning on Friday.

The MOHRE said companies must take into account employee safety when commuting to and from work.
In a statement on social media, the MOHRE said: “The Ministry calls on private sector companies across the UAE to apply flexible work patterns tomorrow (Friday, 27 October) given the current weather conditions.
“Necessary measures need to be taken by companies to ensure outdoor work, which is necessary to resume, complies with the occupational health and safety requirements.
“Companies also need to ensure the health and safety of workers commuting to and from outdoor work locations.”
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority announced it will ask education institutions in the city to protect the safety of pupils and staff with remote learning options for schools.
It said: “Due to severe weather conditions, we ask all private education institutions in Dubai to be flexible when considering the needs of parents and students, and provide the option of distance learning on Friday, October 27. Stay safe everyone.”
A statement by the Government Media Office said: “Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, tomorrow, Friday, 27 October, 2023, will be a remote working day for employees of all Dubai government entities, due to weather conditions.
“This applies to all government employees in Dubai, except for roles that need on-site presence at the workplace.”
The UAE government media office said all public schools across the country would switch to remote learning for the day.
