The UAE has announced July 30 as a paid holiday for public sector employees – in celebration of the Islamic New Year.
The announcement follows the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s earlier declaration of the Hijri holiday for the private sector, which falls on the same day.
Hijri, the Islamic New Year, is the day in which Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) migrated from Mecca to Madinah.
With the holiday falling on Saturday, July 30, only those working on weekends will likely benefit.
