UAE police have busted a drug-dealing gang and seized more than AED23.5m ($6.4m) in illegal narcotics.
Sharjah Police announced the success of an operation to overthrow the Black Bags gang and the seizure of 120kg of marijuana, 3m Captagon pill.
The Police arrested 24 suspects as part of the operation.
UAE drugs bust
The Anti-Narcotics Administration in Sharjah Police carried out two security operations in cooperation with the state police forces.
The accused were Arabs and Asians and authorities said the successful raid was one of the most important operations in the UAE.
Sharjah Police Department director Majid Al-Assam said drug control agencies identified an Asian national was working with criminals from outside the UAE.
Sharjah Police worked with officers from Dubai and Ajman on the operation.
Investigators say the suspects were led by gang leaders from outside the United Arab Emirates and 3m Captagon pills were seized from inside a container.
A second and co-ordinated operation saw police seize 120kg of marijuana.
