Sharjah-based Dana Gas has reported in a disclosure to Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) that it was suspending operations in its Khor Mor facility in Kurdistan after a drone terror attack on 26 April that led to four deaths and injuries to eight workers employed by a contractor.
The incident took place at 6:45 pm on Friday. A condensate storage tank was struck. The workers were carrying on some repairs in the tank.
“Although there was very minor damage to the facilities, for the safety of all our staff and the facilities, we have temporarily suspended production and instituted specific procedural changes,” Dana Gas said in its filing with the ADX.
Dana Gas engaged with governmental authorities to enhance the security and defence measures
“We are fully engaged with the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq at the highest levels in supporting their public commitments that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
“Everyone at Dana Gas and its partners express their deepest condolences to the families and colleagues of all concerned and are doing everything possible to help and support everyone who has been so tragically impacted. The health and well-being of all our employees and contractors remains of the utmost importance to Dana Gas.”
Following the attack, which has drawn strong regional and international condemnation, the company is engaged with governmental authorities to enhance the security and defence measures to allow the resumption of production at the Khor Mor gas facility.
In the filing, Dana Gas added: “We maintain our steadfast commitment to the people of the Kurdistan Region and all of Iraq as well as all our stakeholders and look forward to resuming production operations from Khor Mor gas as soon as it is safe to do so.
“Dana Gas will make further formal announcements to the market in due course.”
