Saudi authorities have thwarted an attempt to smuggle giant quantities of drugs into the Kingdom.
Border guards said land patrols in the Narjanm Jazan and Asir regions foiled the smuggling attempts.
Huge quantities of illegal narcotics were seized.

Official Spokesman of the Border Guard, Col. Misfer Al-Quraini, said that the land patrols stopped smugglers with:
- 62.5 tons of khat
- 1.842 tons of hashish
- 692,106 narcotic tablets
He also added that the detainees were arrested, faced legal measures, and were referred to the Public Prosecution.
