Saudi authorities are using high-tech solutions such as robots and smart apps to monitor activities at the Grand Mosque, says state-run news agency SPA.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque has mobilised 70 electronic services, nine smart apps and robots to help visitors.
Robots are used for sterilisation and perfuming, and for providing Zamzam water at a rate of half a million litres per day.

Zamzam water is distributed in containers in the sides and corridors of the Two Holy Mosques in a safe and sterile manner, following a monitoring system, to provide pure and cool water for visitors.
The applications and services help pilgrims and visitors by answering questions and providing a list of i’tikaaf services.
To help with health and safety measures, 100 doctors of both genders attend to those engaged in i’tikaaf, at special sites, around the clock.
