Pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah next year can apply online from today, Saudi Ministry says

Saudi Arabia has revamped its pilgrimage-related technology following Covid-19

Hajj and Umrah

Pilgrims from around the world can apply online for next year’s Umrah season, according to a statement released by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MOHU).

This is part of MOHU’s continued efforts to facilitate the service of pilgrims worldwide during Umrah ensuring equal access to all worshippers.

For pilgrims travelling from all over the world, relevant visa details are available on MOHU’s official website, while Umrah practitioners from inside the Kingdom came apply through the Eatmarnaapp, which was developed to manage visits during the pandemic while social distancing was still in place.

Umrah applications can be received from inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The first pilgrims could arrive by the first day of Muharram 1444 H, corresponding to July 30, 2022, MOHU said.

Those who would like to obtain licences to serve as agents for Umrah applicants from outside the Kingdom will have to apply through the Ministry’s official website, the statement added.

Umrah permits are issued for those confirmed not to be infected with Covid-19, MOHU reports.

Earlier in July, Sharjah airport geared up for the influx of Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, allocating a dedicated lounge with hospitality services and smart gates along with Dubai International airport.

Umrah is a pilgrimage performed at any time during the Islamic calendar unlike Hajj, which can only be undertaken during the month of Dhul Hijjah.
