The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested an international drug smuggling gang with over 6 million Captagon pills in possession, the authorities announced on Thursday.

The ROP said, “The General Administration for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances arrests an international drug smuggling network, after monitoring operations that resulted in seizing more than 6 million tablets of Captagon,” reported an Omani daily.

The arrested will be subject to legal procedures which are currently underway.

Last month, Saudi Authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,395,930 Captagon pills, hidden in a consignment of wooden panels.

The drugs were busted while in an attempt to be crossed through the Jeddah Islamic port.

Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) said it coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to arrest the individual who was supposed to receive the shipment.
