The UAE government has announced the date for the upcoming Islamic New Year holiday for federal employees.
Friday, July 21, will be a holiday for those who work in the federal government, on the occasion of the Hijri New Year.
Islamic New Year in the UAE
The Islamic New Year, also known as the Hijri New Year, marks the beginning of a new lunar year.
The first day of the Islamic year is observed by most Muslims on the first day of the month of Muharram.
Astronomers will announce the corresponding date of the Islamic New Year, with forecasts speculating it could fall on Wednesday, July 19.
It stated that the Islamic New Year holiday will be given on Friday, July 21.
It means people in the United Arab Emirates will be able to look forward to another three-day weekend before the end of this month.
