Hajj pilgrims have performed the farewell circumambulation – Tawaf – around the Holy Kaaba in Masjid-al-Haram – the Holy Grand Mosque – with ease, amid an integrated service system coordinated by relevant Saudi authorities.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Holy Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque were spearheading the system integration operations, SPA reported.
This year’s preparations included recruitment of as many as 500 civil security cadre employees to manage and organise crowds in cooperation with the security authorities inside the Holy Grand Mosque.
The civil security personnel were also assisting in preparing the floors of the Mataf building and crowd management at the Holy Grand Mosque.
Roboting, a newly-introduced state-of-the-art service, has been launched at the Grand Mosque this year to distribute Islam’s holy book of Quran to worshippers as they finish their Hajj journey in Makkah.
Badr bin Abdullah Al-Firaih, under-secretary of the General President for the Two Holy Mosques Affairs for the Guiding Affairs of the Grand Mosque, said the robots, which can easily find their ways through the crowds, weighed 59 kg, with a controllable speed of 1.2 – 5 m/second and a capacity of 10 kg.
