Dubai Police offers training courses in drone and IoT forensics

The Dubai Police International Centre of Forensic Sciences (ICFS) has achieved some major inventions including the male genetic fingerprint, the first of its kind in the world

Dubai Police is offering training courses and IoT forensics for students and experts from all over the world.

The Dubai Police International Centre of Forensic Sciences (ICFS) will be offering six specialised training courses across various forensic science disciplines.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr Rashid Alghafri, Director of the ICFS, said that the Centre is currently offering training in forensic toxicology, drone forensics and analysis, internet of things forensics, basic and advanced bloodstain pattern analysis training and underwater criminal investigation.

The Centre is also preparing to add two upcoming courses on latent print training and forensic DNA phenotyping analysis.

The director of the ICFS highlighted that among the forensic experts at Dubai Police, 30 are PhD holders, 70 are Master’s, and many others are graduates of the top universities worldwide.

The Centre has recruited, employed, and trained specialists in all forensic sciences, including forensic toxicology, forensic chemistry, nuclear physics, trace evidence analysis, forensic ballistics and forensic explosives.

He said: “The Dubai Police Forensics Laboratories have all the potentials that qualify them as one of the leading laboratories that analyse evidence to uncover mysteries of criminal cases.

“Our laboratories are fully equipped with the latest specialised equipment and technologies utilised by an elite cadre of Emirati experts who are knowledgeable, skilful and highly trained.”

Lt. Col Alghafri encouraged interested students who have completed their bachelor’s degree in the field, government and private employees of speciality and forensic experts from all over the world to apply and register.

“The courses are to be face-to-face and designed to teach and train applicants in both the theory and the practice of each discipline,” he added.

University students can also apply to internship programmes offered on the website or choose to conduct research under the supervision of Dubai Police experts.

The director of the ICFS said that the Centre’s ultimate objective is to generate knowledge for the world, adding that Dubai Police has achieved some major inventions.

These include the male genetic fingerprint, the first of its kind in the world, and has secured the intellectual property right for the new product (26 RM Yplex II) from the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

The new genetic fingerprint is considered the most powerful in the world and was featured in a scientific journal and was requested for solving crimes by many policing agencies worldwide.
