Dubai public prosecutors have warned of stern fines for inciting people to use drugs in the emirate.
Influencing another person to abusing illegal narcotics and psychotropic is a felony and carries strong penalties.
In a post on social media, the emirates Public Prosecution said fines of AED50,000 ($13,600) and a jail term of five years will be handed out to those found guilty.
Dubai drug penalties
It said: “The crime of inducement or enticement of another person to abuse narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is considered a felony and shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a period of five years at least and to a fine amounting to fifty thousand Dirhams at least”
Illegal drugs, including khat, cocaine, marijuana, and heroin were seized by authorities and intelligence shared with countries around the world as police continue to crack down on narcotics traders.
The General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police successfully apprehended 49.6 per cent of all the suspects arrested in drug-related cases and promoting psychotropic substances across the UAE.
During the same period, their efforts also resulted in substantial seizures, including confiscating 491kg of drugs and 3,333,916 narcotic pills.

- Various types of narcotic pills
