The suspension of all social and sporting events, celebrations in wedding halls, event halls, hotels, and government and community facilities in Sharjah has been extended until the end of June.
The ban was initially imposed at the end of March and due to run until the end of April as part of precautionary measures to mitigate the spread of coronavirus.
This was extended and has now been increased further to run until the end of next month, according to the latest directive from the Sharjah Economic Council.
A report on state-run Emirates News Agency (WAM), said: “The decision comes in line with the UAE’s unremitting efforts to support the preventive and precautionary measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19, aiming to ensure the health and safety of all citizens and residents.”
The report added that there is scope to extend the suspension further, if needed.
