Mohammad A. Baker is the Deputy Chairman and CEO of GMG. Together with the Board of Directors, he has led the development of GMG into a global well-being company that improves people’s lives through active living, nutritious food, good health, and numerous other ventures.
In June 2021, Mohammad was appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Dubai Chamber by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
He is also active in other government and private sector councils across the UAE, including ongoing collaborations with the Dubai Economy and Tourism Department, and being part of initiatives, such as Dubai Can and Dubai Chamber.
Mohammad has played an instrumental role in heralding a new era of evolution and growth at a 45-year-old family-owned business. In October 2021, he helped the company embark on a new corporate strategy with a new brand identity and purpose-centric vision to inspire people to win in ways that make the world better.
Today, GMG has a presence in 58 cities in 12 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. Across its four divisions, GMG has 550 stores and a workforce of 8,500+ employees across its global markets.
Under Mohammad’s leadership, GMG has continued to expand its portfolio in the past few years, including high-profile acquisitions, onboarding of leading international brands, and geographical expansions.
As Deputy Chairman and CEO, he has received numerous accolades from organizations such as CEO Middle East, Arabian Business, and Forbes Middle East for his significant contributions to GMG’s growth as well as for enriching the Gulf’s wider business community.
Despite the enormous strides GMG has made in recent decades, Mohammad insists on running the company as a large start-up. He upholds the attitude of a young business—one that ultimately believes that there is nothing that is not achievable.
