Saudi Arabia’s city of the future, NEOM, is currently being developed with mega-projects under construction such as, The Line, Oxagon, Trojena, Sindalah and more. It has a central role as a catalyst in helping diversify the Saudi economy as a part of the kingdom’s Vision 2030.
“Life at NEOM is busy but thrilling, each day is different and working with some of the world’s most interesting and diverse minds is certainly inspiring,” Chris Newman, executive director, NEOM Hotel Development told Arabian Business, “We have more than 80 nationalities currently represented at NEOM, even my son recently noted to me how diverse his school is.”
NEOM’s vision is to be a land of the future, Newman emphasises that it is an opportunity to demonstrate how humankind can live in harmony with nature and how communities can be built that work together to preserve the planet for future generations.
With a project of this scale, there are multiple workstreams operating on different timescales, the first destination, Sindalah is expected to be completed in 2024 while majority of the construction of The Line will be completed over the next decade.
Last week, Arabian Business reported on NEOM’s project, Sindalah. The luxury island destination will act as a main gateway to the Red Sea, offering visitors customised nautical experiences and is expected to start welcoming guests from early 2024.
Covering an area of approximately 840,000 square metres, Sindalah is a group of islands that will be developed in the giga-project. It is expected to create 3,500 jobs for the tourism sector and hospitality and leisure services.
Sindalah will be home to three prestigious hotels, with accommodation offered including 413 ultra-premium hotel rooms, 88 stunning villas and 333 boutique serviced apartments.
When asked about expected partnerships with International brands, Newman told Arabian Business, “Within these luxury properties and across the island, we will work hand-in-hand with international brands to create world-class experiences and unforgettable moments. Further partnerships with unique and international brands will be announced in due course as we progress with the development.”
