Oman’s Supreme Committee to deal with Covid-19 has announced a slew of new decisions for citizens, residents, and visitors to the Sultanate, according to the state-run Oman News Agency.
The new set of decisions eliminates the need for a polymerization (PCR) test for Covid-19, allowing those who have received two doses of one of the approved vaccines entry into Oman. Currently, the list of approved vaccines in Oman include the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, Comirnaty; the Gamaleya vaccine, Sputnik V; the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, Vaxzevria; and the Sinovac vaccine, CoronaVac.
Additionally, face masks will only be mandatory in enclosed spaces, and will be made option outdoors from 1 March 2022.
Furthermore, hotels will be permitted to operate at 100% capacity from March. The number of guests staying in 3- to 5-star hotels in Oman jumped 43% to approximately 1.22mn in 2021, up from 850,000 a year earlier, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) said. The new rules are expected to boost footfall and occupancy rates to pre-Covid levels.

In addition, the Supreme Committee also stated that in-person classes at educational institution can resume at 100% capacity from 6 March, switching from virtual and in-person hybrid working environments in schools and colleges, provided that all precautionary measures continue to stay in place.
The committee also added that international and local conferences and exhibitions, as well as other mass attendance events, can increase capacity to 70%, but all approved preventive measures will need to stay in place.
