With immense investment hoping to put Dubai on the global fashion map, we take a look at three up and coming Emirati entrepreneurs making waves in the sector.

Sheikha Madiyah Al Sharqi: The daughter of the Ruler of Fujairah has made a name for herself in the world of fashion. The designer’s own ready to wear brand, named after her, is worn by the likes of Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie and Sofia Vergara. It is featured on several luxury outlets including Dubai’s Ounass.com and New York’s Fivestory.

Shamsa Al Omaira: The Abu Dhabi-born designer behind fine jewellery label The O Jewellery is also a visual artist bringing her works into life through painting, photography, printmaking, mixed-media installations and finally jewellery. Her brand specialises in coloured sapphires and diamonds, mixing timeless and modern elements.

Huda Al Nuaimi: The Emirati/British founder of Dubai womenswear label Malaak started out by combining both heritages into a collection of abayas, before expanding into everything from customisable badges to turbans and day dresses. The fashion designer’s online store is launching soon, while her physical shop is located at Jumeirah Centre in Dubai.
