Plans have been revealed to build a sports city in Saudi Arabia to include a massive 100,000-seater stadium.
The King Abdullah Sports City project, similar to Dubai Sports City, the $4 billion mixed-use development sports development built around five major sports venues, will be built north of Jeddah following approval from King Abdullah.
The project will include a specialist hospital to treat athletes, indoor stadiums and youth hostels, Arab News reported on Thursday.
Jeddah Mayor Adel Fakieh said that the new facility would boost sports and youth activities in the Kingdom.
“King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah will be a huge cultural landmark and a symbol of comprehensive development in the kingdom,” he told the paper.
He said the project with advanced and modern facilities would allow the kingdom to host major Arab and international sports events.
