Audi Middle East said on Wednesday it sold 10,647 cars in the past year, exceeding the company’s annual sales forecasts.

In December, Audi Middle East handed 1,092 cars over to their buyers, a new monthly record, it said in a statement.

Audi Middle East said it plans to further concentrate on increasing capacities and quality for sales and after sales service in the region to support its growth on route to its Middle East sales target of 20,000 units annually by 2020.

“We have set a historic sales record on the Middle East market, with demand growing considerably faster than expected”, said Trevor Hill, managing director Audi Middle East.

“We are still the fastest growing German premium brand in the Middle East. In 2014 we will continue to focus on strengthening our infrastructure backbone.

“Almost every dealer in the region is investing in new facilities, in line with the company’s strategy of sustainable growth.”

In the UAE, Al Nabooda Automobiles, the official dealer for Audi in Dubai and the northern Emirates, will open new dealerships in Fujairah and Sharjah, with both locations featuring sales and services facilities.

In 2013 the UAE was the strongest single market for Audi with a growth of 32.3 percent with 4,458 units sold.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait followed closely with 1,904 and 1,407 sold in 2013 respectively. Overall Audi registered strong growth in all Middle East markets, apart from Syria, where business operations have been suspended.

With over 2,183 units sold, Audi’s 7-seater SUV, the Q7, was Audi’s bestselling model in the region.

Globally, the Audi Group delivered around 1,575,500 cars of the Audi brand to customers in 2013. From January through the end of September 2013 the Company posted revenue of €37 billion and an operating profit of €3.74 billion.
